Sir Edmund Hillary

Q  Where was Sir Edmund Hillary born and what was his background.

A    He had one brother and one sister .His brothers job was a Beekeeper as well . His parents were Percival and Gertrude .Sir Ed was born in Auckland on 20th of July 1919 and died on the 11 of January 2008 .He went to school at Auckland Grammar.

He gained his love of the mountains when still at school when he went to Mount Ruapehu. He was a huge man standing at 6 ft 5 almost as high as the door.

Sir Edmund had three children Sarah,Belinda and Peter, Peter has also  climbed  Mt Everest.  He was married twice, his first wife Louise and his youngest daughter Belinda were sadly killed in a plane crash in Nepal in 1975. Sir Ed is the only New Zealander alive at the time to have his name on a bank note and considered in the top 100 most influential people of the 20 th century.

2. Q. What was his job before he climbed Mount Everest.

A He was a beekeeper in Tuakau south of Auckland . Him and his brother Peter worked at the same beehive as him having hives all over the Counties and Waikato region. When he became famous the bees did not feature strongly in his life as he was now one of the famous people in the world along with Sherpa Tenzing Norgay whom together climbed to the summit.

3.Q What was sir Edmund Hillary’s training for Mount Everest

A He had to climb 11 peaks including the highst peak in our country Mount Aoraki/Cook. The first mountian that he climbed was Mt Ruapehu and spent many years exploring the Southern Alps. From that time onwards Sir Ed was hooked on his new passion and joined with a Hastings man called George Lowe who was a school teacher at Hastings Boys High school.

He went to Tibet and Nepal and joined up with expeditions around the Himalayan region .He climbed Mount Everest on  the 29th of May 1953 along with Tenzing

Norgay .

When he walks down the street all the children scream of fear and run home and cry (that will probably skar them for life)to there Mun .He has long fingernails that are as long as a tape measure and he as a massive wart it  looks like another eye it is that big and he has is two front teeth are missing .He is a huge man standing at 10.999 as high as two doors!!!! but thats not all his nose is as long as a baby's foot
